Surface Patterns
This project explores surface pattern design through a series of botanical illustrations inspired by Scottish flora. Using observational drawings as a starting point, I developed a collection of repeating patterns that celebrate the shapes, textures, and natural details found within these plants.
The designs were applied across a set of sketchbooks, transforming them into both functional objects and cohesive visual outcomes. This allowed me to consider how illustration can extend beyond the page into product-based contexts.
Through this work, I explored composition, repetition, and colour, while continuing to develop my interest in botanical subject matter. The project reflects a balance between detailed drawing and decorative design, resulting in patterns that feel both structured and organic.
